A man and a woman were in their basement-level home on Fair Haven’s Perkins Street at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday when two men burst in wielding a knife and gun. The woman found safety in the bedroom while the man successfully warded off the invaders. Attackers — described as two teenage boys — demanded money, punched the man, then left without stealing anything.

Read on for more crime details, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.

Six gunshots were reported at the Brookside housing complex in West Rock, but police found no evidence to substantiate the report.

And across the Quinnipiac River in Bishop Woods, a man had his cell phone snatched by two teenage boys at 7:40 p.m. near 341 Smith Ave. When the victim ran after the boys, other assailants appeared and started punching him.

Another violent robbery attempt in this portion of Fair Haven. I still haven't heard a thing from the police reaching out to the neighborhood. Some community policing, huh?

RE: Fair Haven.

The crime in this area just keeps coming and it is all concentrated in a fairly small area. There is no excuse why nothing has been done. The police obviously do not care or are too incompetent to handle the problem. I think it is due time that we start an armed Citizens On Patrol force. We could be like New Haven COPs, but effective (and tax free).
