John O’Keefe, a 39-year-old man from East Haven, has died after a motorcycle accident Wednesday night. Police say he lost control of his motorcycle at East and Water Streets at 9:14 p.m., fell of the bike and hit the ground. He died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday from injuries sustained in the crash.

Read on for more crime details, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.

A flurry of gunshots prompted a brief lockdown at the Vincent Mauro Elementary School Wednesday.

At 2:50 p.m., just before dismissal, neighbors reported gunfire between two groups outside 108 Sylvan Ave., across the street from the school. No children were outside the school at the time of the incident. School officials locked down the school for a brief period of time.

Police found some shell casings at the crime scene, but no victims. A witness described one of the shooters as a teenage male. Police have made no arrests in the incident.
