John S. Martinez students created pinwheels and wrote thoughts about war and peace and then planted the pinwheels in front of their school Friday. Martinez was the only Connecticut school taking place in an International Day of Peace. Meanwhile, Victorya McAvoy took her turn among peace activists on the steps of the United Church on the Green reading the names of Americans soldiers killed in the Iraq war.
