On State Street, skaters and graffiti artists are crossing paths at Channel One Skate Shop.

A new exhibit of “Graffiti Lives” — with an opening organized for Friday night (details here) — is the latest example of how two youth cultures are thriving at the shop and gallery a block from the old New Haven Coliseum.

New Haven high-school student Bianka O’Bryan hung out with the artists at the shop and produced a video new report for Reel News, a collaboration between Youth Rights Media and the Independent. Click on the two play arrows to watch her report.
