Recipe for Security

Miya%20and%20Devon%20Headshot.jpgReel News youth reporters Miya Brooks and Devon Youmans talked to teachers, guards, students, and the principal to assess what makes for a safe urban high school.

Brooks and Youmans are New Haven high-school students taking part in Reel News, a joint project of Youth Rights Media and the Independent.

Click on the play arrow to watch what they learned when they explored the question of how best to address security, at Wilbur Cross High School. Although the number of security guards and cops assigned to the school has remained the same as last year — eight and two, respectively — the Reel News team found an increased focus on safety this year. To people interviewed, it seemed as though more guards are around, and visible.
