Another Pizza Deliverer Mugged

And a 19-year-old was shot in the Hill.
Here are the details, according to Officer Joe Avery and mayoral spokesman Jessica Mayorga:
The deliveryman, from A-1 Pizza in East Haven, drove to 171 Quinnipiac Ave. in New Haven Tuesday evening. He came to the back of the building, where seven males wearing ski masks approached him. One displayed a handgun. They made off with the man’s wallet (with about $30 in cash) as well as the pizza. The delivery man was not injured.
The cops have been trying to alert food delivery people to take precautions against thefts, in the wake of a string of such muggings. Among the suggestions: Don’t deliver to the rear of buildings; don’t accept orders via cell phone calls; and “make people come out to the curb” to pick up their food, so the delivery person has a chance to check them out first. The cops have even translated a written version of this alert into Chinese and distributed them to Chinese food delivery outlets.
In a separate incident at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday, a 19 year-old man was shot in the ribs after an apparent robbery near Spring and Dewitt streets in the Hill. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Cops are investigating the incident.

$30 and a pizza split between 7 people. $4 and change and one slice for risking imprisonment/record for life essentially ruining your life?
Doesn't seem like a risk/reward ratio I would like to be involved with but then people like this don't have the capacity for such comparison let alone the faculties to decide based on said comparison.
... Send them to jail and they find validation among their peers, learn to be better/more violent criminals or at the very least come out with a healthy attitude of "vengeance" for the "system" that put them in jail in the first place.
Why don't you pizza delivery guys arm yourselves? Make your employers pay for an instructor to come and train you guys.
I wouldn't even deliver mail in the middle of the day around here let alone pizza at night either alone or unarmed.
It's a zoo and all the keepers have their backs turned.

How about having a "special" pizza to give to the robbers? It could be "da bomb", laced with Plutonium or radioactive medical waste, Ecstasy and Hepatitis A, but no MSG! The robbers could then be tracked by their glowing in the dark, random hugging (rather than mugging) of strangers and massive diarrhea.
