It happened when six men converged on a pedestrian on Platt Street.

According to police spokesman Joe Avery:

The pedestrian, who’s 42, was walking near 30 Platt early Wednesday evening when the six males approached him. One put a gun to his head and tried to rob him. The victim ducked and fled toward Edgewood Avenue. He was shot in the left buttock and right foot. The alleged attackers fled through a rear yard through Sherman Avenue. The victim went to the hospital with non-life- threatening injuries.

Later Wednesday, around 11 p.m., a man was walking with a friend on Willow Street near Nicoll in the East Rock neighborhood. Two men approached him from opposite directions. One grabbed him around neck and put a gun to his head.

“Give me what you got!” he demanded.

The victim fought back and fell to the ground.

“There’s a cop!” the victim yelled. The gambit worked; the two attackers fled.
