Fatal Crash

Police have released the identity of the man killed in a one-car crash this weekend on Forbes Avenue, where a cop narrowly escaped the same fate.
Joseph Fraulo, 47, of 105 Townsend Ave. was pronounced dead at 12:09 a.m. Sunday, according to police spokesman Officer Joseph Avery.
According to Avery:
Fraulo was the driver in a one-car crash at Forbes Ave and East Street at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Police are still probing the cause of the crash.
The story nearly ended in double tragedy when Officer Lisa Wexler’s police cruiser, which was guarding the crime scene, was struck by a drunk driver at 2:36 a.m. Her cruiser was severely damaged, but the officer herself escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver, whose blood alcohol levels were more than twice the legal limit, was arrested, Avery said.
Also Sunday:
A 14-year-old boy was walking on Cherry Ann Street near Sherman Avenue at 6:54 p.m. when he was approached by three men with one gun. They took his jacket and sneakers and fled on foot.
Earlier Sunday morning in Westville, a man was spotted dragging a garbage can down Westerleigh Road and allegedly ransacking people’s cars. Police caught up with him shortly after 10 a.m. Police said they found several items in his garbage can that were not trash. Victims said the objects had come from their cars. The man was arrested.
A man came home at 10:43 a.m. to find the door open to his home on State Street near Edwards. Inside, he found a woman in a puffy black coat and “long, unkempt hair.” Upon seeing him, she slashed him in the cheek with a pocket knife. He threw her down the stairs. The suspect fled; the man was treated for his slash wound.
