guy%20in%20bow%20tie.jpgIt was raining and gusty as the Elm City Parks Conservancy held its annual Plunge for Parks, but that didn’t stop participants (including Philip O’Connor, pictured) from having a bracingly wonderful time.

Parks Conservancy president Cordalie Benoit said the event is a fundraiser. “We have something called Experience Your Parks grants, where people can get up to $250 for an event they hold in the park as long as it’s open to the public.”

You see any MS13 marks while you were there?

This happened in New Haven, didn't it?
Vandals deface Vietnam war memorial

With all the noise over nooses and some racist spray on Yales campus I thought for sure I'd see this story here when I visited the site this morning.

I guess "Kill Whites" doesn't count as racially insensitive? Vandalizing a memorial isn't news? The possibility of MS13 being in town is no big deal?

I think this is a wonderful community event and a creative fundraiser for Elm City Parks Conservancy. I regret I wasn't able to attend. Whalley: I don't disagree with your concern about the lack of coverage over the defacing of the Vietnam memorial but is this really the place to post that outrage? I think the Independent thoughtfully covers many disturbing stories. I appreciate The Independent for the wide variety of stories it covers and am grateful it showcases positive activity across our city.
