2 Downtown Muggings

They took place at Church and Wall, and Edgewood and Dwight, on Saturday night.

Yale Police Chief James Perrotti distributed the following description of the muggings:

“The first incident occurred at 10 p.m. at the intersection of Church Street and Wall Street, when a man described as being 20 to 30 years of age, 5’4” tall, thin build, wearing a black down 3/4 length jacket, a black knit hat and jeans, approached a person not affiliated with the University and demanded his wallet. A handgun was displayed.

“The second incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. at Edgewood Avenue and Dwight Street, when a man in his mid-twenties, 5”6 tall of medium build, slight goatee and mustache, wearing a dark knit hat, black coat and dark pants, approached a Law School student who was with a friend, and demanded his wallet. A handgun was also displayed in this robbery. Both cases are being investigated by the New Haven Police with assistance from the University Police.”
