Someone dialed police in a hurry at the Center Church on the Green on Temple Street Sunday morning at 11:57. Someone’s smashing up church-goers’ cars, the caller said. Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

Cops showed up and found a 35-year-old man on the scene. He became violent and had to be subdued, cops said. By the time he was arrested, police say he had smashed up 12 civilian cars and one police cruiser. Cops charged him with breach of peace, threatening and 13 counts of criminal mischief.

Also according to Avery:

Thief Thwarts Thief

A man burst in to the Wine Thief liquor store at 181 Crown St. at 7 p.m. Saturday. The robber simulated a hand gun and demanded the clerk open the cash register. When the clerk at the store refused, the subject fled.

Home Invasion

A woman was inside her Haven Street home at 11:27 a.m. Sunday when she heard a loud noise. She waited, then poked around, only to find a strange man inside her house. The robber—described as a 50-year-old man in a long green trench coat— ran out with a bunch of stolen goods, including a white Apple laptop. He was last seen fleeing through backyards off Quinnipiac Avenue.
