A Newhallville man was shot in the lower back outside his Shelton Avenue home at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to police spokesman Officer Joseph Avery, the victim told police he was shot after someone tried to rob him. He was treated for a non-life threatening wound.

Also according to Avery:

A female employee was working at a travel agency at 111 Water Street when someone smashed the front door glass. She didn’t hear it, so she didn’t notice it until later. Cops arrived at 11:31 p.m. Saturday to check out the scene. Apparently nothing was stolen. The woman told police she thought the thieves got spooked by a motion sensor and fled.

And cops found bullet casings but no victims at 14-16 Stevens Street after gunshots were reported at about 2:48 a.m. Sunday.
