Copper Pipes Snatched

Early Thursday morning, four cops reported to a report of a burglary at 374 Dixwell Ave. Here’s what happened, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga:

They found a man and a woman, both from Bassett Street, rummaging around in the basement, trying to steal the copper pipes.

When detained, the 43-year-old male suspect admitted to snatching other pipes from 332 Winthrop Ave. Cops went to that address, a vacant building, and found the house had been looted, too. The pipe theft had caused the basement to flood, and water had to be shut off to the house.

The alleged copper-swipers were both arrested on several burglary and theft related charges.
