Eld St Burglar Returns

A man posing as a winter landscape worker stole jewelry and a laptop from an East Rock home Monday, after apparently first trying the same trick on a Wooster area home. Here’s what happened, according to police:
A burglar alarm went off on Lyon Street at 3:35 p.m. Someone had tried to get in, but failed. A witness told police a man had first knocked on the front door, then snuck around the back to try to get in.
Just 12 minutes later, a resident was at home on East Rock’s Eld Street when someone forced entry into the side door. A neighbor reported seeing the man knocking at the door, claiming to be looking for landscaping work.
This time, the thief got in. He was chased out of the Eld Street home mid-theft. He made off with a laptop and some jewelry. Hours later, the suspect slinked back to Eld to pick up a big piece of evidence: A pickup truck he had left there. In the back of the pickup was a ladder rack, a broken window and an old TV set.
Car Blaze
At 1 a.m. Tuesday, a black Ford F150 was found engulfed in flames in the area of Chapel Street and Blatchley Avenue. It was towed to 710 Sherman Pkwy. Arson investigator arrived on the scene.

Wait, so did they get him? I live on Lyon street and had a lawnmower and pressure washer stolen from my back yard several weeks ago. Maybe this is the guy!!

I am sure that this same guy attempted to steal my bike about 5 years ago when I lived on Ellsworth Avenue. He left his pickup running on the street, sneaked into my backyard pretending to be a utility worker and made his way around my house to my bike. At first watching him from a screened-in porch I followed behind him and just as he attempted to get away on the bike I yelled at him to stop while my cordless phone connected with 911. So the guy couldn't even ride the bike, he got scared and gave it back. He appeared to be high, middle-aged, and a straight-faced liar.
