The “Colgate Womenís Games” concluded its finals this past weekend at the world- famous Madison Square Garden in NYC. “New Haven Age Group Track Club” athletes, Medinah Nabadukka, Kellie Davis and Brianna Sims were part of 225 finalists in 8 events. The Colgate Games began this year 5 weeks ago with 11,000 girls from the tri state (NY, NJ and CT) plus the states of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Young ladies compete over the 5-week period at Pratt institute in Brooklyn NYC, earning the right to compete at Madison Square Garden.

At the finals, Kellie and Medinah led the charge by placing second in the 1500 meter and 800 meter runs, respectively. Kellie’s time of 4:47 and Medinah’s time of 2:23 were personal bests. Their performances ranked them amongst the top 7th and 8th graders in the Northeast. The Colgate-Pomolive Corporation also awarded the two athletes each a $500 college scholarship to their future college of choice. Finally, Brianna Sims finished strong in the 55H. She place 6th in the event.

Coach Major Ruth said: “I am so proud of the girls. It was a very competitive series to get to the Garden. They worked and competed hard every week. They deserve the praise and recognition.”

The Colgate Womenís Game is the oldest running women’s track meet in the world. The Game is known for yielding future Olympic champions.
