By unanimous vote Monday, the aldermanic Black and Hispanic Caucus picked a new slate of officers.

Hill Alderman Jorge Perez was reelected to the leadership post for a second two-year term.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues,” said Perez after an uncontested election in City Hall at the caucus’s Monday meeting. The caucus, which comprises roughly half of the board, sits down every term and comes up with its own agenda to address its constituents’ needs. Perez said the goal-setting will take place next time the caucus meets.

As caucus chair, Perez, the full board’s former president, has played a visible, outspoken role on city issues ranging from ethics to tax breaks for a local carting firm.

Also elected Monday: Hill Alderwoman Jackie James as vice-chair, Fair Haven Alderman Joey Rodriguez as secretary and Hill Alderwoman Andrea Jackson-Brooks as treasurer.
