The Message Is The “Medea”

DSCN8657.JPGWhen Long Wharf Theatre and Quinnipiac University had news to report, they did it, of course, onstage — with actors.

The announcement took place mid-day at the theater on Monday. The two organizations announced a new five-year partnership under which Quinnipiac’s theater department will stage three or four plays on the Long Wharf stage. The students will work alongside the pros at Long Wharf in the process.

The first production will be a staging of Euripides’ Medea from Feb. 27 to March 2. The crew performed a scene from the play at Monday’s press conference.

Click on the play arrow to watch that scene; to see Long Wharf Board Chair Mary Pepe describe how the partnership fits into Long Wharf’s mission; and hear Quinnipiac professor Kelly Morgan describe why star Mary Vreeland will be using sign language in the production.
