bankrobbernewalliance.bmpPolice are looking for a suspect (pictured) who tried to rob the NewAlliance Bank on Westville’s Fountain Street at 10:16 a.m. Friday, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.

He displayed a sawed-off shotgun and demanded cash. Somehow, Mayorga said, the man got “spooked.” He aborted his heist and took flight. The man, a white male about 5 foot 7 inches tall, was last seen fleeing on foot, wearing a black mask and black clothes.

Anyone with info about the incident is encouraged to call police at 946-6304.

In other news, according to police:

Hill Home Invasion

A man was entering his Carlisle Street home at 8:33 p.m. Thursday when two men with guns leapt out from the shadows. They said they had guns. They forced him into his home, ordered him to the floor, and raided his home. Stolen was a computer, a Houston Astros baseball cap autographed by Roger Clemens, and an ATM card.

The suspects ordered him to disclose his ATM card PIN. He did. They fled. When he later called to cancel his ATM card, he found that $400 had just been withdrawn.

Machete Assault

Two people got slashed with machetes at 9:14 p.m. Thursday at 422 Blatchley Ave. One was cut on the arm, the other on the back. One machete was found at the scene. An “extensive crime scene” was found in the rear garage area of the house, leading up to the front of the house. Both victims were treated for serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

A 26-year-old convicted felon got arrested Thursday for carrying a pistol.

And the narcotics task force made drug busts at 17 Ann St. and 241 Sherman Ave. this week.
