Fatal Crash

(Corrected: 5:12 p.m.) An 80-year-old man died in a head-on collision Monday afternoon on Whalley Avenue, according to police.

The driver was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital after the 5:41 p.m. accident. He was apparently struck head-on by an east-bound car that drifted across the center line. The other driver was also taken to Yale-New Haven, with non-life threatening injuries.

Police had not released the driver’s identity as of Tuesday morning.
