The "Dumping" of ex-offenders certainly speaks of a deeper problem; the lack of sufficient re-entry forethought, planning and programs. It's a process that ought to begin long before the individual leaves custody. Here is information on one (I'm sure there are many) of the private funders that provides dollars for people who want to deal with these deeper issues: JEHT Foundation, 120 Wooster Street, m2nd Floor, New York, NY, 10012. Phone: 212-965-0400, Fax: 212-966-9606, Email: info@jehtfoundation.org, Url: http://www.jehtfoundation.org

In the area of Criminal Justice, JEHT focuses on three phases in the criminal justice process for which appropriate interventions can make a difference: 1. the period before final adjudication and disposition, when critical decisions about arrest, conviction, and sentencing are made, 2. the period during which people are incarcerated, or under correctional supervision, when the decision whether to prepare people for successful re-entry into the community or simply containing and punishing them drives the agenda; and, 3. the period after people have left incarceration and need assistance to re-enter society and become productive members of their community.

The semantics and hysteria mounted on this subject is out of hand, inaccurate, misleading and sometimes, downright dishonest. I'll not go into details here but I suggest everyone read these articles with an open mind minus the poison from the conflicted parties. As for city representatives continuing their campaign of deceit and pandering, consider the source. Anybody who is surprised to find sex offenders in the ex-con roster is not living in the real world nor would that person be capable of administering a prisioner release program. And by the way, there are sex offenders living all over the city including my neighborhood.
