A post-hearing report.
New Haven high-school students from the “Reel News” project attended Monday night’s public hearing featuring the state’s education commissioner and his plan for statewide reform. Click here to read Allan Appel’s report of that hearing.
Afterwards, the students interviewed some of the participants for their take.

So you're going to protest practices and policies that will lead to more New Haven children going to college, Mr. White? I assume you are a teacher. Is raising the bar just too inconvenient for you?
Levett asks where are the teachers going to come from? I don't know, but when they get here, they should make room for them by moving out those that aren't getting it done...and not just teachers but administrators as well, and the BOE to boot.
Given the failure of the district to do it's job in recent DECADES, what does Mr. White think SHOULD be done? Like the mayor, do you believe in the same "winning" formula, just with lots more state money?
Look to Newark NJ for our future. $20k per pupil and no results to show for it.
