The City ID program has to be funded with private dollars or with a grant. This was the testimony last year by Community Services Director Kica Matos, who said that if no outside funding was found, the program would end. According to city budget administrators three weeks ago, Ms. Matos told them 12 - 15 applications for such funding have been submitted but not yet approved. Budgeteers say there is no room in CDBG or general fund expenditures for the projected $220,000 cost in FY 09 without those pending grants. This is as it should be.
