IMG_1408.jpg“Keep up the good fight,” aldermen told these guardians of the Earth.

Seven members of the Environmental Futurists (pictured) showed up at Monday’s Board of Aldermen meeting in City Hall to be honored for their work beautifying Beaver Pond Park and holding their university’s feet to the fire to combat global warming.

The Futurists, a student club at Southern Connecticut State University, have been credited with helping to transform Beaver Pond Park from a trash-strewn dump into a pleasant park. They pitched in alongside the Friends of Beaver Pond Park in countless cleanups — click here and here for stories on their work.

“It’s a beautiful place to walk and swim now,” applauded aldermanic President Carl Goldfield.

The Futurists are also credited with pressuring SCSU to commit to carbon neutrality and creating an organic garden there.
