Four Wounded

At least four people were wounded in a series of shootings across the city overnight Wednesday, according to police reports.

A 33-year-old man from Hazel Street was found suffering from five gunshot wounds at Shelton and Starr Streets in Newhallville at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday. The victim, Craig Moore, had been shot in the finger, ear, shoulder and both hips. He was reported in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Hamden police reported stopping a subject after a foot chase who claimed he was shot at in the area of Shelton Avenue, too.

Over in the Hill about an hour later, a 26-year-old man took several bullets to the leg in a shooting at 9:46 p.m. at Congress and Redfield. Police found him inside the Fast Food Deli at 750 Congress Ave. He told police he had been walking on Redfield Street toward Congress when bullets flew. He was unsure where the gunfire came from, police said.

Just before midnight, a 17-year-old city man was shot in the leg in the heart of the city’s downtown, on the lower Green. The shooting followed a large-scale fight at Church, Crown and Center streets after an all-age party at Gotham Citi Cafe.

Several hours later, Jonathan Dozier, 28, was shot in the chest and arm at about 2:57 a.m. Thursday. He was found at 40 Hudson St. Witnesses gave conflicting stories as to where the shooting had taken place.

Body Identified As Homeless Man

And police have released the name of a man found dead in the rear of 33 Humphrey St. Tuesday. “The victim has been identified as Michael Alfone 51 of East Haven. Alfone was homeless at the time of his death. the cause of death has not been released yet by the Medical Examiners office,” according to a police report.

Do you think the police are willing to do their job and get disciplined for it? Things are only gonna get worse when it stays warm outside. A contract year for the police too. Will the mayor play hardball, or back them like he said they would after the police and fire backed him for governor??
