Mr. Gold's "evidence" appears to be as flimsy as that used by Mr. Bass and the NHI to heap personal slander upon those against illegal immigration. It's a sad low point to hear Mr. Bass attempting to link the hate mail with that group at the FOI hearing without presenting even the slightest evidence of the linkage. Given the high quality so often delivered in the past, I expect much better investigative journalism from someone with such senior experience. Find and show the evidence, or stop stooping to insults.

Sorry Paul, but I have to agree with nfjanette(above) in that you did not make the link of the hate mail to the group protesting to the FOI. I see nothing wrong with the gold request to ask for freedom of this information. The records are contained in a public domain, to be used for public purposes and as such, is public information.
You seem to not fear releasing your personal information in a public forum. If illegal immigrants fear retribution, then it is best they either do not obtain a card, or if obtained, do not use it in public places which would lend to self public exposure.
What a paradox!!!

OMG....my last name may be Italian but... some spanish have the same last name.... let those bigots come to my door...I DARE THEM!!
Hmm Web and NFJ.....I don't agree. But I have to inform you that the ID Cards were offered to the undocumented to prevent crime, a crime that was happening in OUR CITY. When offered; the names were given on the pretense that they would not be public record...kind of like a confidence between a lawyer and his client. Not just for them but for us...if there is someone mugging and rapping this part of our community...I want to know. Before the card this group was not reporting it in fear. Which left us with these muggers and rapist running the city free. Now they can report these crimes...and we can get rid of the low lives that target this vulnerable group. Untill the Federal Goverment comes up with a way to fix immigration problems cities have to work with what they have. This is just a temporary fix to protect New Haveners.
Question to both of you...what do you think gold would do with this list of names???
Gold is a snake... and at least you agree that the stunt he pulled was flimsy. Paul's reports are accurate reports in the fact that he is telling the storys of the people he and his staffer are interviewing at the time. If gold and his croney's
are not part of this interview then that is why there view is not part of it....but they always manage to post the opinions on the web site. And yes paul does not let all post be viewed but most he does allow... so there opions in an indirect way are always part of any of the story's here. And as far as linkage...most comments have to come with an e=mail address....which is connected to an IP (the commputer that the email came from)so it is not to hard to prove who posted, what.

Thanks for your input CEDARHILL.
But ID cards in themselves do not prevent crime, the Mayor and Police Chief used this passage as a selling point to introduce the cards. Believe me, I am not against the card, however, the fact remains that the cards are public records. It will be up to the FOI to decide if the release of information and the UN-proven potential for retaliation out weights the public's right to know.
In view of the fact that no history of violence against illegals has yet been demonstrated, I do not believe this should be a consideration for the FOI to determine.
NHPD crime statistics report, backed by NHI recordings, show that practically all of the crime is committed against blacks, whites and Hispanics in the city, with no appreciable crime reported against illegal Hispanic or Latino by these groups.
Therefore, I believe until proof to the contrary can be shown, the question of violence against illegals is moot to this decision.
Also, there is a question out there that crime is being committed by illegals to illegals and goes unreported.
