Police have released the identity of the man gunned down outside the Cardinal’s Club this weekend.
Ronald Bethea, 29, was shot in the back outside the Cardinal’s Club at 320 Ashmun St. at about closing time, at 1:47 a.m. Sunday. He died in the operating room at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The victim is the cousin of Doug Bethea, who lost a son in a shooting in November 2006.
Police are investigating whether the Cardinal’s club incident might be retaliation for the triple-shooting on County Street just a week before, according to police Capt. Peter Reichard.
Teens Shot
Two teens, ages 15 and 17, were hit in a hail of 19 bullets in the area of Shepard and Read Streets on Sunday night at about 10:25 p.m. Both were shot in the rear. They were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Residents of 37 Lander St. in Newhallville had two bullets pierce their home at 9:37 p.m. Sunday. Cops found four bullet casings across the street.
Bullet casings were also found at 453 Huntington St. as well after reports of gunfire at 4:25 p.m. Sunday.
