$50,000 Offered For Murder Info

Det. Mike Wuchek hopes that a check from the governor will help him deliver an anniversary present to the family of a murder victim.
Friday is the one-year anniversary of the murder of Terrance Driffin. The 23-year-old was gunned down on Shelton Avenue.
The cops have been unable to solve the murder, running into the “No Snitchin’” wall of silence.
It hasn’t been for lack of trying.
Hundreds came to Driffin’s (pictured) funeral, where his uncle, City Clerk Ron Smith, brought a police detective (Clarence Willoughby) to the pulpit to plead for witnesses to come forward.
“If we open our mouths in praise of Jesus, why can’t we open our mouths to tell what happened to Terrence?” Smith exhorted the mourners at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church. “Someone was there. Someone saw it. The African-American community must speak out. I tell you that one way or another those who go around with guns in their pockets will be punished.”
Five months after the murder the police brought Driffin’s parents to a press conference to first announce the $50,000 reward and make a passionate plea. (Click here to read that story.) It didn’t work.
Now the police have printed up new flyers re-broadcasting the $50,000 reward in the hopes that time, and the one-year anniversary, may bring forward a witness. The reward money is offered “for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible” for Driffin’s death.
“We know there are witnesses out there. We want to give the family closure,” Det. Wuchek (pictured) said.
To qualify for the reward, call in to the police at 203-946-6294 or 1-866-888-TIPS.
