L-R The 2008 NewAlliance Bank Teacher Excellence Award recipient: Donna Schlank (Vincent E. Mauro School), Abby Ostruzka (Timothy Dwight Elementary School), Donald Brechlin (Hill Regional Career High School), Susan Block Brown (Sheriden Communications & Technology Middle School), Eiko Hosozawa-Feldenzer (Vincent E. Mauro School). These teachers are credited with showing students how to be team players, apply math concepts to every-day life, build bridges, replicate the effects of Nature, and develop a love for life-long learning. In all, twenty nominations were reviewed by The Community Foundation’s Education Subcommittee, that committee consists of a representative from NewAlliance Bank, Community Foundation Board Members and staff, past Teacher Award recipients and community volunteers.
