The campaign trail Thursday was a celebration and fundraiser for a progressive political group, which honored Edwards — the former presidential candidate who this week delivered an influential endorsement of Democrat Barack Obama, and who is considered on the A-list of potential running mates.

Edwards spoke at the convention of Demos, a national public policy research and advocacy organization. The group’s president is Connecticut’s Miles Rapoport, the former secretary of state and state representative.
