“Bossman” Keeps Driving

A woman told police she was mugged early Thursday after accepting a ride from a man named “Bossman.” Here’s what she said happened, according to police:

She left her Rowe Street home at 3:15 a.m. to walk to a convenience store for some smokes. Two people in a car outside her house offered her a ride. She didn’t know them, but she accepted. When they passed the store, the driver kept going. He said he had to “drop his friend at home.” He took her to the other side of town, to Scranton and Greenwood Streets in West River. When they got there, the passenger snatched a $20 bill from her hand. Both men dragged her out of the car and left her there.

During the ride, the passenger referred to the driver as “L” or “Bossman,” the victim said.

I doubt what she was looking to smoke at 3AM is sold at your normal local convience store. Or maybe it is? Times are tough these days and maybe local stores are expanding their product base.

What kind of woman gets into a car with 2 strangers at 3AM?

jonesing for a cigarette at 3 am is reasonable enough. but getting into a car with strangers? c'mon. there's a basic childhood lesson that didn't stick... or was it overlooked?
