Burglar Stopped In E. Rock

Keeping an eye on East Rock Wednesday evening, New Haven cops stopped a potential burglar in his tracks, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery.
Three cops have been assigned to a temporary beat in the East Rock area in response to an uptick in car thefts, Avery said. They stopped a suspicious man in the area Wednesday evening. Cops didn’t have any new charges to press, but they checked his record and found that he was wanted on burglary charges in the town of Danielson. They contacted state troopers, who came in and took the man away.
In other news, according to Avery:
Because of a strange odor, 150 Court St. was evacuated Thursday. The odor turned out to be generator exhaust.
And a man was mugged by two men as he walked out of his home at 61 Edgewood Ave. at 1:03 a.m. Thursday.
“Make it easy or else,” said the muggers, threatening use of force. He gave them $25 and a cell phone.

My car was broken into on Weds. night, the third time in 5 years. It is about time they started patrolling again.
The said thing is is that I drive a 72 beetle. Who walks by a beetle and thinks I wonder if this car has a stereo in it.

Ralph,
Where was your car parked?
About what time was it broken into?

AMAZING! they put cops on the street and they stop crimes. WOW! What a novel idea. Now how about making the "temporary" beat permanent. Who knows what might happen?!!
