Police today charged a man and his alleged accomplice in connection to a string of robberies on the East Rock neighborhood, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga.

The man was first arrested on Sept. 27 after he allegedly tried to rob two people near the duck pond at Edgewood Park. After his arrest, he confessed to a series of robberies in East Rock, police said.

Until Monday, the 29-year-old suspect had only been charged in connection to the Edgewood incident. Monday, he was slapped with charges for three more robberies, all in the East Rock neighborhood.

The incidents included a daylight mugging by the New Haven Lawn Club at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, as well as two robberies on Orange Street. The incidents happened from Sept. 25 to 27. In all three cases, the victims were Yale students. The suspect is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Police also apprehended the man’s alleged partner in crime. A 23-year-old woman was arrested Monday on conspiracy charges for the Humphrey/Whitney and Edgewood Park incidents. She is being held on $150,000 bond, according to police.

The city credits Detectives J. Naccarato and C. Perrone, Officer R. Forte and Sgt. D.
Marino for cracking the case.
