Drug Bust On Green

Police have arrested four people for allegedly dealing drugs in the open air on the downtown New Haven Green.
Cops got a tip in October that people were selling and buying drugs in the early morning at the corner of Church and Chapel Streets, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery.
New Haven’s narcotics task force staked out the area. Over the course of several days, they spotted “several hand to hand drug transactions,” Avery said.
In one transaction, a 45-year-old man was seen buying eight bags of heroin, according to police. The man was charged Thursday with drug possession.
A man and a woman, ages 47 and 41, of 358 Orange St., as well as a third man who was believed to be their supplier, were all charged with selling and possessing drugs.
Seized at the scene at the time of the bust were: “40 glassine packets of marijuana, 29 glassine packets of heroin and $382.”
Pedestrians Struck
Two pedestrians were given a verbal warning after they walked into traffic on a downtown street and got hit last weekend. The pedestrians, ages 65 and 71, were visiting from Easton Saturday afternoon. At about 4:30 p.m., they walked in front of a car that was turning left from York Street onto Broadway, Avery said.
The car “tapped them,” Avery said. They suffered minor injuries, including a cut on the knee. The driver stuck around until cops showed up.
Cops determined pedestrians were at fault, Avery said. The couple was given a verbal warning.

Did those rich people from Easton get to meet with the assistant chief of police when it was determined they were visitors from Fairfield County and not just some random New Haven thugs?

Great video. Maybe the freshman class at Yale should watch it during orientation along with their parents.

According to the Vision Appraisal database 358 Orange St. is owned by the housing authority of the city of New Haven - say it ain't so.
