Seen These Two?

Police have identified two suspects in the Nov. 11 theft of wire from the Fantasy of Lights display at Lighthouse Park. About $6,000 in wire was stolen from the park. The drive-through holiday lighting extravaganza is a benefit for Easter Seals.
Police have secured arrest warrants for two Branford residents, both wanted on larceny charges for the theft:
David John Tobey, age 27, 6 foot 2 inches, 200 pounds, is believed to be the occupant of a Maroon Chevy pickup truck with a misused plate number CT61CR69. He’s wanted on a $500,000 bond.
Amy Folland, age 30, 5 foot 5 inches, blonde hair, brown eyes, lives at 118 South Montowese St., Branford. She is wanted on a $200,000 bond.
Anyone with info on their whereabouts can call New Haven Police at 946-6316 or 946-6304.

why is it that white people are always committing crimes in our city? Can't we do somthing?

I'm sure if this crime occured on Paul Bass' property, he wouldn't have allowed images of the suspects to be posted. We'd hate to actually solve a crime around here.

According to police, they both have a history of substance abuse, with Tobey having several cases currently pending with the CT Supreme Court. If this isn't a revolving-door, look the other way on drug use/abuse problem, then I don't know what is. Tougher sentences = real consequences = less future crime.

MORRIS COVE MF, the problem I have with that is that the cost of incarcerating these two even for a few months is far greater than the cost of the thefts they have committed. I don't want to spend money on housing and feeding these bottom feeders. And that's all we would get with harsher sentences. Bigger bills for more jails. Do I think we should coddle them, maybe set them up for a nice rehab program? No, I'd rather see repeated offenders simply chucked off a cliff. How's that for "liberal," FEDUP? But there's simply no proof that harsher sentences serve as a deterrent. At this point in our penal system, the only purpose served by prison is to separate those who would harm us from the rest of society. We don't really do much reformation any more.

The real problem with jails is that when we let two in, one or two are getting out at the same time. This keeps repeating, over and over, and we wonder why we have so much crime. First, the penalty for murder or attempted murder should be death. That cuts off the food chain of murderers that keep coming back from jail, and maybe eventually we'll have less murderers. Manslaughter shouldn't count, because that's mostly accidental. If I sound insensitive, too bad. Psycho murderers should be put to death, not be given free room and board. We can spend the resources we'll free up on getting the call right when it comes time to send or not send someone to death row.

James and Anonymous: the entire judicial system costs money. it brings order to our country. If you don't like the US judicial system, there are plenty of countries that offer the type of justice you are advocating. stop wining or move to Iraq or somewhere that better suits you.

"why is it that white people are always committing crimes in our city? Can't we do somthing?"
this is a racist comment that could only be made by someone who rode the short bus to school.
What if someone wrote' "why is it black people, Hispanic people..." ???
