Two Shootings Probed

Police continue to investigate two shootings that happened on Monday night.

A boy, age 17, was found Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the thigh, according to Officer Joe Avery. Police are still probing whether he was part of a shootout at a barber shop Monday night. He told police that he had been shot in a separate robbery on Dixwell Avenue that night, not at the shootout, Avery said.

Also Monday, at 7:30 p.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in the hand at Farren Avenue and East Ferry Street, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga. He told police he was shot by two unknown men, she said.

And police have arrested five people they believe were involved in a weekend shoot-out on the Ella Grasso Boulevard near Legion Avenue, Mayorga reported. The incident happened at about 3 p.m. Saturday. Occupants of two cars opened fire on each other. One of the cars crashed soon after, and its three occupants were arrested. They fled to the area of 97 and 169 Porter St., where two additional suspects were arrested.
