(Updated police account here.)
A car blew a red light and struck an 11-year-old boy Tuesday evening in Fair Haven, police said. The boy was trying to cross the street at Grand and Clinton Avenues when the car hit him. He was thrown up onto the hood and roof of the car, leaving him with abrasions but no broken bones. The driver will likely be charged for running the light, police said.
Also in Fair Haven, a man reported being mugged at gunpoint outside Adriana’s Restaurant Tuesday at 9 p.m. The victim was robbed by two teenage boys in the parking lot at 775 Grand Ave. He threw them $40 and they fled without incident, police said.

Driver needs to be charged for more than that.
I am disappointed.

I'm surprised the driver didn't flee the scene. That seems to be the norm here in Connecticut.

Punch someone in the face to take their purse, and you might get a year in prison. Run a light, crumple them with your vehicle and/or give them other life long physiological and psychological injuries, and get you get a ticket.
If that's how our society really works on a day to day basis, I wonder why we are surprised about gun violence or about the fact that over 50% of kids in some neighborhoods are obese and stay indoors all day, even as kids in CT as a whole are getting healthier.

The police claim the boy was riding a bike and was at fault according to an independent witness. Would be nice to see them follow-up. Melissa, have they contacted you?
[Streever: no they haven't. Melissa]
