Top Cops Move On

Two top neighborhood cops are turning in their “district manager” cruisers.

Lt. Bernie Somers worked his last day Thursday and Lt. Joe Streeto is retiring at the end of June, according to Assistant Police Chief Pete Reichard.

Streeto is the highly regarded manager of the Hill South district. Somers has been running the Westville/ West Hills district.

Reichard said the department hasn’t yet picked their replacements. He said that decision will be up to Assistant Chief Kenneth Gillespie and Capt. Denise Blanchard, who are in charge of the patrol division, both of whom are on vacation, according to Reichard.

is there a certified list? will the city permit the promotions of a white man if he is the most qualified? the reason I ask is because destafano, obama, holder, and sontamayor have all stated on the record that special arrangements should be made to promote blacks in the fire department, despite the fact that none finished high enough on the test to qualify.

another quick question...i read in the register yesterday that the city is failing to certify the results of a police promotional exam. why nothing from the independent on this topic? it concerns me because destafano and the obama administration are blocking the advancement of white people because of their race. Ricci v. destafano proves that.

Bernie Somers has been one of the NHPD members most in touch with the needs of cyclists. It's sad to see him go...

Somers is a real loss. I'm sure Streeto is, too, but never knew him personally. Somers was a stand-up guy & a great cop. Congratulations to him & I hope he enjoys a well-deserved rest.

The real lose will be Lt. Joe Streeto, he was a real cop, and a super nice guy. I remember when he was a street Sgt., on midnights.

The Hill is losing one good cop and boss. Lots of luck in the future Joe.
