Police seized 80 grams of crack cocaine and made one arrest in a drug bust Thursday at 7 p.m. at 1279 Quinnipiac Ave., apt. #7.

When cops entered the home, they found a man and his girlfriend and their one-month-old baby, according to police. In the home, police allegedly found 80 grams of crack, two digital scales, $4,183 in cash, as well as 120 grams of “an unknown white rock-like substance.”

Cops arrested the man on numerous charges. They let the woman go, and notified the Department of Children and Family Services about the child’s living conditions.

Man Mugged

A man told police he was mugged and beaten by two young men on bicycles Thursday evening. The incident took place at 11:09 p.m. at Liberty Street and Columbus Avenue. The victim gave up his wallet and was assaulted, police said.

Police got a report of four to five gunshots near Adam Clayton Powell and Foote Streets in the Dixwell neighborhood at 11:53 p.m. Thursday. No evidence was found.

I'm sorry but why is it that DCF is reported to on the living conditions. Years ago there was a program on TV called Judging Amy or something. The mother was played by Tyne Daly and worked at one point for something akin to Hollywood's version of DCF. How come she was called to get children out of this conditions and TV showed here having to take the children away.

Why would you leave behind a one month old baby with a mother who has no lost the bread winner of the family. DCF leaves children in New Haven in absolutely appalling physical conditions. They should be ashamed. That child has been exposed to an extremely dangerous narcotic substance that can have life long neuroligical repercussions. The child should have been taken to a better, safer environment.

Beans

Are you serious?, I think your watching way too much tv., if your asking why real life isn't like tv.

I think you also read too much into the article, I didn't read that the conditions of the apartment were diplorable, I read that D.C.F., was notified of the conditions, I think they were refering that drug dealing was going on in the house. I'm sure if the conditions were unlivible the police would have had the child removed, I believe they are duty bound to act in cases of abuse.
