Medical Examiner Delays Annie Le Death Report

The Connecticut chief state medical examiner has delayed release of an autopsy report of murdered Yale grad student Annie Le.

Chief State Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver II was expected to announce Le’s cause of death at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

At 3 p.m., a spokeswoman for his office said there would be no announcement today.

“The state’s attorney has requested that in order to facilitate their investigation, the cause of death not be released at this time,” the spokeswoman said.

Le, a third-year pharmacology Yale grad student, went missing last Tuesday. More than 100 law enforcement agents swarmed the city for clues to her death. The media swarmed into town, too, as a transfixed nation has watched the mystery unfold.

State police Sunday found Annie Le’s body inside a wall in the basement of a lab building at 10 Amistad St.; it was supposed to be her wedding day. Local police are now heading up the investigation; they have a “serious” suspect who worked in the building as a lab technician dealing with animal testing.
