Vote09_logo_02.jpgVoters go to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in seven Democratic primaries for aldermanic seats.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Only registered Democrats can vote.

The primary is the election that counts, given that New Haven is virtually a one-party town. There are 63,932 registered voters in New Haven, as of the latest count. A total of 70 percent are Democrats (44,497 voters); 4 percent are Republicans (2,592); and 26 percent are unaffiliated (16,481). Less than 1 percent are classified as “other”: Those 362 voters include Greens.

To find out what New Haven ward you’re in, call the city Registrar of Voters Office at 946-8035. Read below to see who’s in the race and where to vote.
