2 Cops Capture 4 Guns In 3 Days

Wednesday was another productive day for Officers Chris Senior and Ekrem Halim.

The cops recovered two handguns from a car and its passenger, making it four guns picked up in three days for the pair (one-time cops of the week).

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

Senior and Halim were investigating a motor vehicle at Winthrop and Judson Avenue when they saw a silver and black handgun inside in plain view. They found another gun on a passenger, and drugs in the car. The passenger had two gunshot wounds in his leg. He claimed to have received it between one and three days ago.

Senior and Halim recovered a handgun from a hastily dug hole on Monday. Senior captured a gun after a foot chase near 1 Derby Ave Tuesday night.

In other crime news, according to Avery:

Two men with bandannas on their faces robbed an Econo Lodge on Pond Lily Avenue at 9:30 a.m. Armed with handguns, the men ordered a staff to lie down on the floor as the clerk emptied the safe. The men were seen running on Valley Street.

The Shot-Spotter system reported a gunshot at the Lincoln-Bassett School at 130 Bassett St. at 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived, a suspicious person ran when they tried to stop him. Cops spotted a small silver revolver in his waistband. He was caught behind 28 Brewster St., but he no longer had the handgun. He did have some drugs.

At 7 p.m. two men with a silver revolver took a man into an alley near Goffe and Orchard Streets and robbed him. The pistol-whipped him and took his cell phone.

Three officers arrested a man who robbed Pop’s Grocery on Grand Avenue. The man had jammed a BB gun into the clerk’s stomach.
