Pizza Deliverer Ambushed

With a gun to his head, a pizza delivery man was forced to give up $100, his cellphone, and a hot pie.

Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

When a pizza delivery man arrived at 52 Henry St. at 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, a man came out of the house with money in hand. Meanwhile a second man circled around from behind the house and pulled out a black handgun. The gunman “racked the slide of the handgun” and put it to the delivery man’s head. He lost $100, a cellphone, and the pizza.

In other police news, according to Avery:

There was a carjacking on Tuesday at 1506 South Genesee St. Two men in black ski masks pistol-whipped a 48-year-old woman and took her red Mitsubishi Galant.

A man reported being shot at 11:30 on Tuesday at State and Ferry Street, while he was pulling out of a gas station. He was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital for a gunshot to his left calf.

The Yale medical building at 1 Howe St. was evacuated by a bomb scare at 5:19 p.m. on Tuesday. A man left a voicemail message saying that there was a bomb in the building. The NHPD, FBI, and state police bomb squads searched the building. They found nothing.
