110609_robbery.jpgPolice are looking for a man in a pink shirt who they say robbed a bank on Amity Road on Friday.

The robbery took place at 2:18 p.m. at the Bank of America at 100 Amity Rd.

Police say the suspect entered the bank with a small black shopping bag. He wore one black glove. He passed a note to a teller and fled on foot with cash.

The suspect is described as a 60-year-old man with gray hair and sneakers.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call detectives at 946-6316.

Cops: Sleeper Had A Gun

A man was woken up in his car by police. A few minutes later, he was in handcuffs.

Cops found an unloaded handgun in the driver’s side door, according to police.

Here’s what happened according to police spokesman officer Joe Avery:

Police responding to a parking complaint in front of 60 Judson Ave. at 6:19 a.m. on Thursday found a man asleep in the offending car. The man woke up. He opened the door to talk to police. Cops saw the handle of a gun in his car door. It turned out to be a 9mm handgun without a clip. The 25-year-old man was arrested.

Police reported on Friday that there was a mugging on George Street near Sherman Avenue. The mugger had a small caliber handgun.

Slam!

subs.JPGA crash awoke neighbors on Central Avenue around 5 a.m. Friday when a man speeding north slammed his car into the back of a parked 1992 Mercury Sable with a New Haven Independent bumper sticker. The driver didn’t flee; he called the cops, who showed up and took his confession. Police said the man did not appear to be drunk. He did have insurance. It was the second time in four years that a speeding driver woke the block by slamming into a car parked in front of the same house.

Don't ask me why I know this, BUT, the robbers black shopping bag looks EXACTLY like the little bags that Trails End pet crematory sends their pet cremains back to the veterinary clinics in! Right down to the tag placement.

You would think that banks would have someone at the door telling people to take their hats off when they entered.

It does seem like the banks on Amity Rd. and upper Westville are hit an awful lot. A little extra police attention and presence would snag clowns like this. Pink sweatshirt, black shopping bag and one black glove - this guy sounds like a one-man Michael Jackson tribute.

Hey Dez:

Did you see the cops got the guy, who was living in a nearby motel and after arresting him, "police returned to the motel and animal control officers seized 13 cats from his room" according to the Register.

Seems maybe you were on to something!
