After pleading guilty to trying to sell over 50 grams of crack, a New Haven man got 10 years in prison.

Nora Dannehy, U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that news in a release on Monday. A 40-year-old man, formerly of Harper Avenue, was sentenced on Monday to 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The man had pleaded guilty on May 25, 2007, to one count of conspiracy to possess more than 50 grams of crack, with intent to distribute .

In other crime news, there was a mugging reported on State Street on Tuesday. Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:

A New York City corrections officer reported that he was approached by a man with gun at 1:46 a.m. near State and Grace Streets. The gunman put the pistol to the victim’s side and demanded money. He then took the man’s wallet, which contained his officer’s badge, ID, and credit cards. The mugger fled on foot.

Even policemen are not safe from muggers here. Lovely.

He was a Corrections officer ( Prison guard ), not a police officer. They should have given him 50 years, he was most likely a repeat offender.
