Two men were recovering after being shot near Alpha Delta Pizza Restaurant at 371 Elm St., according to police.

The shootings happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. People reported hearing “multiple” shots near the pizzeria.

Police found a man there who’d been shot in the heel. It was his 32nd birthday. He spent it being treated at Yale-New Haven.

Soon after a 24-year-old man walked into Yale-New Haven’s emergency room with the help of female friends who’d trasnported him there. He’d been shot in the thigh; he said it happened by the pizzeria.

Police were looking for a suspect based on a physical description offered by one witness.

Ugh. For Alpha Delta, that's now three separate shooting incidents in less than two years, all of which happened shortly after New Haven's 2:00AM closing time.

ADP needs to get some security, (at least some cameras), and they also should consider closing earlier, if their late-night crowd is so out-of-hand.

How many downtown shootings are we up to this year? And what are Yale and the City doing about it?
