Bank Robber Caught

For the second time in two months, a robber hit the TD Banknorth branch across from the Green — and was caught.

The latest robbery took place at 1:40 p.m. Thursday at the 994 Chapel St. bank.

According to police, a man came into the bank, said he had a gun (which he never showed), then left with a bag. He fled on foot.

It turned out the bag had no money in it. Just a dye pack.

Soon afterwards cops found a man who fit the suspect’s description, on Howe Street. He was arrested after a bank employee identified him as the robber.

A robber hit the same TD Banknorth branch on Oct. 14. He, too, was caught nearby after the dye exploded. A visitor from Wisconsin who saw it happen led cops to the robber, who tried to flee. Read about that here.
