suspect.jpgPolice are seeking help tracking down a burglary suspect who allegedly broke into a Beaver Hill home Wednesday morning, then used a stolen credit card to fill up on gas.

The burglar sneaked into a house on Colony Road at 6 a.m., according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery. People were sleeping in the house when he came in. He stole car keys and credit cards, then fled in the resident’s car, Avery said. Police have seen several burglaries in that area in the recent past, he said.

After the morning burglary, the suspect drove the car to Townsend Ave and Main Street, where he used a stolen credit card to buy gas, police said.

The suspect was caught on camera (above) at the gas station.

Do you know who he is?

If so, call New Haven Police Sgt. Herbert Sharp at (203) 946-6016 or (203) 946-6304.

I don't recognize the suspect that got caught on camera but he's wearing what looks like the same black North Face Denali jacket that 'went missing' from the back of a student's chair in the Educational Center for the Arts Photography classroom on Thursday 10/22/09. Sorry to say a digital camera also went missing from ECA recently as well--$50 reward for the jacket, no questions asked, please call ECA at 203 777-5451.

Did Officer Avery provide any details re: the make/model of the car and/or plate #? It's more likely we'd spot the car before the suspect, providing he is still driving it.
