Crossing Guards Warm Up

2%20crossing%20guards%20with%20cupcakes.JPGWhile a dozen or so hardy cyclists enjoyed a scrumptious hot breakfast provided by Bru in the city’s bike parking facility at 200 Orange Street for December’s Bike to Work Day, on the other side of the wall, crossing guards stopped by to enjoy hot drinks and special cupcakes, provided by the city’s Department of Transportation, Traffic and Parking.

cupcakes%20CU.JPGThe crossing guards are on morning and afternoon duty at important pedestrian crossings on school days, Transportation director Mike Piscitelli explained. They also staff a limited number of special events such as the Labor Day Road Race.

They will soon enjoy a well-deserved Christmas vacation.
