Man Mugged At Dark Bridge

Another person was mugged Monday at the foot of an unlit bridge that neighbors avoid out of fear for their safety.
Monday’s mugging at the corner of Court and Artizan Streets took place on the same day that the Independent published a story about the poorly lit bridge, which carries Court Street over the train tracks. Its lack of lighting is a source of concern for neighbors, who have complained of numerous muggings and fear that they could be victims of crime there after dark.
Here’s what happened on Monday, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:
At 6:20 p.m., a 33-year-old man was punched and shoved to the ground by two males. One of the attackers kept his hand in his pocket as though he had a gun. They took the man’s cell phone and wallet.
In other police news, according to Avery:
Three teenagers tried to rob a 19-year-old at the corner of Canner and Orange Streets on Monday. At 7:41 p.m., the three approached the man and tried to punch him and take his cell phone. One of the attackers pulled a knife. The victim ran away unharmed.
At 7 p.m. on Monday, a man was robbed after leaving a store on Grand Avenue. He walked into the rear parking lot and was about to enter his car when he was approached by two men, one of whom had a gun. They went through his pockets and took about $90. As the muggers fled, the gunman fired four shots.
A motorist was forced to the side of the road and robbed at 3:30 on Tuesday morning. He had just turned onto Clinton Avenue from Middletown Avenue. Suddenly a vehicle swerved around him and cut him off. Two masked men got out. They were dressed in black and one of them had a gun. They approached the driver and told him to empty his pockets. The driver put $600 on the passenger seat.
The muggers drove off in their black Honda Civic.

"The driver put $600 on the passenger seat."
Really? Who carries $600 cash with him/her?

Anyone feel like taking the law into their own hands and walking around the bridge trying to get mugged and then, ideally, turning the tables and mugging the muggers? I have night-vision goggles. Get back to me people.

Your hope and change vote will only lead to more crime, trust me on that one.
