What would be a telling collective noun for a gathering of teapots? The wonderful catalog An Exaltation of Larks is my model here, but it does not include that particular formula. “A boil” of teapots is far too Book of Job, “a stoutness” and “a spout” too beholden to the children’s anthem. There is something to recommend “a pour.” You can invent your own formula when you are surrounded by these examples fashioned by Chris Alexiades and Laura Litvinoff at the Clay Studio. Then move on from them to plates and jars and other forms of clay made magical. Their studio is open to the public over the next two weekends.
